Enhanced performance of IDactiv QUANTUM

We are pleased to announce new positive efficacy results within the current 30 minute contact time for our IDactiv QUANTUM instrument disinfectant powder, confirming performance against two particularly important challenges in healthcare:
✓ Clostridioides difficile spores (better known as C. diff)
✓ Tuberculosis (better known as TB)
These additional tests had been requested by several international Bossklein partners and are particularly relevant to healthcare applications, where high-level instrument disinfection and robust microbiological performance are essential.
Tested against C. diff spores
C.diff is a particularly challenging organism because its spores are highly resistant and can survive in healthcare environments for prolonged periods. For an instrument disinfectant powder to demonstrate effective sporicidal performance, rigorous testing is therefore essential.
Our latest testing was carried out against C. diff spores in accordance with the principles of EN 17126:2018, the European standard for evaluating the sporicidal activity of chemical disinfectants used in medical areas.
EN 17126:2018 is a quantitative suspension test (Phase 2, Step 1). The test is designed to establish both the test method and minimum efficacy requirements for sporicidal disinfectants.
It applies to products used in medical environments, including those intended for instrument disinfection by immersion.
For us, this provides an important additional level of confidence in IDactiv QUANTUM’s sporicidal performance and its suitability for demanding healthcare environments.
Demonstrating tuberculocidal activity
The second important addition to our testing programme is efficacy against TB-related mycobacteria.
IDactiv QUANTUM has been tested in accordance with EN 14563:2008. This is the European standard covering the quantitative carrier test for evaluating mycobactericidal and tuberculocidal activity of chemical disinfectants used for medical instruments. It is a Phase 2, Step 2 test and is specifically designed around instrument disinfection by immersion.
Unlike a simple suspension test, the carrier test evaluates disinfectant performance against microorganisms dried onto a carrier, helping to simulate more challenging practical conditions.
EN 14563 is specifically applicable to medical instruments and healthcare environments, including hospitals, community medical facilities and dental institutions.
Why does this matter?
For our healthcare partners, these results provide valuable additional evidence when selecting an instrument disinfectant powder for reusable medical, surgical and dental instruments.
IDactiv QUANTUM already combines cleaning and disinfection in a convenient 2% formulation. A 30-minute soaking time and a visual colour-change indicator shows when the solution is active and ready for use. Our existing technical data also demonstrates broad bactericidal, yeasticidal, virucidal and sporicidal performance.
