A step forward for Spectrum Tips and Easy Tips

At Bossklein, we are continually looking for practical ways to improve our products and the way they are packaged. Sometimes, the most straightforward changes can make a meaningful difference.

As part of this ongoing approach, we have changed the material and reduced the size of the outer packaging used for our Spectrum Tips and Easy Tips by approximately 40%

The new packs are also now recyclable alongside other soft plastics.

The new pack has been designed to better match the quantity of tips inside, helping us to reduce unnecessary packaging material while maintaining the protection and convenience our customers expect.

40% Less packaging

Spectrum Tips and Easy Tips are disposable 3 in 1 syringe tips designed for use with dental air/water syringes. Supplied in packs of 250, they provide separate air and water channels and are designed to deliver reliable performance during everyday dental procedures.

Because these tips are disposable and intended for single use, they can also form an important part of an effective approach to infection control in the dental practice, helping to reduce the potential for cross-contamination between patients.

By reducing the size of the outer pack by approx 40%, we have removed unnecessary excess packaging and created a closer fit around the product. It is a relatively small change, but one that can be repeated across the volume of packs supplied to customers.

Carton quantities remain unchanged for both products at 40 packs per box.

Our latest packaging change does not alter the 3 in 1 Syringe Tips themselves.

Instead, we have looked at the packaging around the product and asked a simple question:

Can we reduce the amount and use a more modern material while still doing the job properly? The answer is yes.

Material changes

Packaging plays an important role in protecting clinical products during storage, transportation and handling. However, effective packaging should not mean excess waste.

For us, responsible packaging development is about finding the right balance between product protection, functionality and material efficiency.

By changing the material to a monofilm low-density polyethylene (LDPE) used Spectrum Tips and Easy Tips packs can now be recycled alongside other soft plastics. Previous packs had to be discarded in general waste and then either sent to landfill or incinerated – neither option was ideal for the environment.

This forms part of a wider conversation taking place across dentistry. Dental practices, distributors and manufacturers are increasingly considering the environmental impact of the products and consumables used every day. Packaging is an obvious area where relatively simple improvements can contribute to reducing material consumption.

Small changes can add up

We recognise that changing the specification of these packs will not solve the wider environmental challenges facing the dental industry. However, we believe that manufacturers have a responsibility to continually review where improvements can be made.

Our approach is to look at the details; from product formulation and manufacturing processes through to packaging. We try to identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary material and improve efficiency wherever practical.

The modernised pack now being used for Spectrum Tips and Easy Tips is one of those changes.

For our customers, the product inside remains the same: disposable 3 in 1 syringe tips designed for convenient, single-use application in the dental practice. What has changed is the amount of packaging surrounding them.

Future First approach

This packaging update also supports our wider Future First approach at Bossklein, where we are continually looking at the environmental considerations surrounding our products.

We believe sustainability should be approached through tangible improvements rather than simply making claims. Reducing packaging waste where it is possible to do so is a straightforward example of putting that principle into practice.

Our new packs mean less waste packaging material, a more efficient pack and a design that is better matched to its contents.

It is a small change, but it is another step in the right direction.
