During the development of Bossklein IDactiv, we decided we wanted to create more than another instrument disinfectant. We wanted a modern dental instrument cleaner that could combine powerful cleaning performance, advanced disinfection and excellent material compatibility, while taking a more considered approach to the ingredients used in the formulation.
The result is Bossklein IDactiv: a concentrated 2-in-1 solution designed to clean and disinfect reusable dental instruments and tools before sterilisation. IDactiv can be used in both instrument baths and ultrasonic baths, with a useable solution that needs just 2% dilution ratio – thats 20ml per 1L.
Cleaning and advanced disinfection in one step
Effective instrument reprocessing starts with thorough cleaning. Organic debris and contaminants left on an instrument can interfere with the subsequent disinfection process, which is why we designed IDactiv to tackle both stages.
Our dental instrument cleaner actively helps remove debris from instruments while simultaneously providing broad spectrum disinfection. At a 2% concentration, IDactiv provides bactericidal, yeasticidal and enveloped virus activity with a contact time of just 15 minutes. At 4%, it provides full tuberculocidal and mycobactericidal activity with a 60-minute contact time, as well as activity against non-enveloped viruses including Adenovirus and Norovirus
IDactiv has been tested against a range of relevant EN standards, including EN 13727, EN 13624, EN 14561, EN 14562, EN 14563, EN 14348 and EN 14476.
For dental professionals, that means one highly concentrated dental instrument cleaner can provide an efficient and comprehensive part of the instrument reprocessing workflow.
Designed to protect your instruments
We developed IDactiv with material compatibility in mind. The formulation includes a corrosion inhibitor and is chloride-free. EN 21530 testing confirms compatibility with a broad range of materials including stainless steel, aluminium, titanium, acrylic glass, silicone rubber, HDPE and carbon steel.
Cleaning and disinfection should not effect the instruments themselves.
A recent compatibility study with a selection of well known dental instrument brands all with established reputations for producing high quality tools has also demonstrated longer term suitability.
Testing was completed across mutliple different types of manual dental instruments which used a wide range of different materials. No visible signs of corrosion, pitting, cracking, warping or degradation observed. Giving end users the ultimate confidence for repeated cleaning and disinfection cycles with Bossklein IDactiv.

A more environmentally considered formulation
We deliberately developed IDactiv using more environmentally considered raw materials wherever possible. The formulation includes a plant-based chelating agent and a biodegradable detergent, while avoiding PHMB. Bossklein has also developed the formulation to utilise biodegradable components and naturally derived ingredients where practical.
Performance matters, but so does the chemical structure of the solution.
